Every student aims at increasing his learning skills, which will help in improvement in the academic grades. For improving my learning skills and becoming a good learner I have focus on enhance the skills of evaluating sources, time management and note making & taking. All the information which we read or heard from various sources is not compulsorily accurate and valid. To determine the accuracy and validation of the information, evaluating sources is used (Wandasari, Kristiawanand Arafat 2019). For explaining the importance of evaluating source I have used Driscoll’s model of reflection under which at first stage it describe ‘what ‘ the situation is all about. I was allotted an assignment which requires collection of data from secondary sources. I need to identify various factors which are related to the topic. In second stage of model, It was a negative experience as when I start searching for the information there were a lot of data available that made it difficult for me to identify the correct and reliable information. This made me understand the importance of identifying the most accurate information by evaluating various sources.

Under the last stage it defines how one improves its performance by learning from previous experiences (Reflective Practice Toolkit, 2023). While preparing current assignment I collected information as well as evaluated the source from where it has been collected (Stevens, et.al, 2019). By applying this skill I was able to collect information from best sources which help me in getting better grades. Evaluation of source will help in gaining more accurate and reliable information which make our answer correct and help in gaining more marks. Another skill which helps me in developing myself as a learner is time management skill. This helps student in completion of the work on time and prioritize the work accordingly. This skill helps in reduction in the stress of the individual as this help in accomplish work at particular time limit. From my past experience I have learn the important for the managing time. I have used Driscoll’s model of reflection to indicate how my past experience help me in my development.

Time management skill

At the time of my last semester’s exam I was left with so many syllabuses which need to be completed in 15 days. I was not following any proper schedule which made it difficult for me to complete. This in turn leads me in a situation of stress and exertion. This experience made it realize the importance of time management in the student life. Time management helps me in completing the work before the deadline and help in reducing the distraction which help in improving the performance. I was able to complete more work in less period which saves time for other activity and help in overall development of the individual (Magnusson and Godhe, 2019). Effective time management skill will help in reducing burden on the mind as all the work will be completed before time and it also help in improving the efficiency of doing work. This will help in facing the uncertainty and solving the problem effectively.

Taking and making notes

Not making and taking is the another skill which help me, as it is very difficult to identify the important topics and point from the whole chapter a day before exam. Rather than waiting at last moment to identify important part one should make notes at the time of the lectures and writing all the important information which are available from different sources (Ngwoke, Ugwuagbo and Nwokolo, 2022). I have used Driscoll’s model of reflection to indicate how my past experience made me understand the importance of taking and making notes. During this semester I need to complete my whole syllabus and need to remember all the important point at the time of exam. From last year experience where I read whole chapter but it was difficult to remember important point at the end of chapter. Then I need to again read the same to recall what was important. It takes too much time and lead to non completion of the syllabus.

At the time of exam I was unable to remember the sub point of each topic which I could elaborate. From this experience I understood the importance of note making and writing down all the important point together so when I start learning I could remember what are most important which help in saving time (Alyami, et. al, 2021.). This help in decrease in the distraction as I need to be alert and focus at the time of lecture so that I could write down all the important information without missing anything. Writing down of notes help me in organizes all the information and able to link notes with the classroom learning and easily recall it. This skills also help in engaging my mind in listening to lecture and help in development of listening skills.        

Explain self-development as a learner will help in approaching the future challenges and expectations of a university course

 My development as a learner will help in getting good grades in higher studies as this will help me in becoming more attentive in during the lecture. This creates an interest in the studies and helps me in reducing distraction. This will help in completing the assignment on time which eventually leads to reduction in the stress level and effectively achievement of goals (Dwijayani, 2019). By becoming good learner I will be able to design effective time management schedule which will help in facing uncertainties during the higher education and help in managing the time and energy in efficient manner. This also helps in identify which information is reliable and which is not so I do not waste time on unnecessary and inadequate information. It will help in increase in the ability of adapt to new think and learning new skills. Adapting new skills will improve my performance and widens the area of knowledge which will help in achieving personal goals. By developing the good learner skill I will able to gain confidence and keep myself motivated during higher studies. By developing all this skill I will able to compete in the higher class easily and achieve my goals
