Personal and professional development is referred to as a strategy through which the person tries to develop themselves. Within the working environment there are different types of the changes taking place. Thus, for getting successful it is necessary that the appropriate learning is made so that professional development of the person can take place. The reflection is tool which is powerful; this can help in understand the professional and personal growth. By having time to asses about the experiences, through this one can understand deeper self- awareness, increase resilience and on-going evolvement as the professional and individuals (Smith and Gillespie, 2023). While working within the healthcare sector it is very necessary that the person is adaptable to any change. It is due to the reason that there are lot many changes taking place in the working pattern and every aspect need to be updated by the person. The report will shed light on the professional practices in the field of health and social care. The report will delve into the reflection on role as collaborative worker; will explore the effectiveness of the different and numerous form of the communication. The report will emphasis on the self-awareness and evidence of reflective learning for the development.

The principles of professionalism in the health and social care

Within the Health Care it is very necessary that the appropriate professional practices are followed. While working within the health care setting the most important aspect for the professionalism is to follow the values and ethics (Nuriman, 2021). There are different ethics that needs to be followed while working within the Health Care setting. The values and the ethics are the pattern which needs to be complied for working efficiently. The values include the personal and professional values like honesty, trust and many other different aspects. All these aspects need to be implemented while working within the health care setting.

The main principle in the health and social care as a nurse, it is essential to know about the confidentiality and truth telling from the principles of the autonomy and which is needed by the nurse to keep the things confidential (Blustein et al, 2020). As a nurse there are four principles of the ethics such as non- maleficence, justice, autonomy and beneficence. It is crucial to maintain the professional relationships. As a nurse, some crucial principles are respect and dignity, privacy, individuality, independences and partnership. The nurse should be responsible for making sure the work to the standards in the code. It must be ensured that the practices and conduct can’t fall below the standards. The actions and omission will not harm the wellbeing of individuals (Mlambo, Silén and McGrath, 2021). The confidentiality is the main part of the principles because the things should be kept by me as professional worker. This can be lead to the wellbeing of the patients; every patient should be treated equally and not according to the gender, sex and colour.

Being a nurse, it advocates for the patients and find out the balance with the delivering patient care. The Every phase of the principles helps in making decisions which is based on the values and beliefs, this is known as the autonomy. The ethics are the broad term of the nature and moral choices which is made by the professional workers (Sancar, Atal and Deryakulu, 2021). The truth telling is essential for the patient relationship; due to it the trust of the patient can be gained. According to the principles of code conducts the professional should be behave as wide range of the missions. It can be defined as fixed regulations which can be related to the internal practices like break policy or dress code.

Reflection on role as a collaborative worker

Being a nurse working collaboratively plays an important role in the health care professional due to this has been effective for me. Due to the working in the team, I have learnt about the new skills which can be improved as health care professional (Cebrián, Junyent and Mulà, 2020). For instance, while working with my seniors I have developed numerous of things about the patient care and how to treat the patients in the better way. With the help of Gibbs reflective cycle it was evident that working with the team of professional I have identified about the area of improvement I have to increase the knowledge about the care of patient, the treatment on the daily bases which can be helpful for me (Evans et al, 2020). I have to work on the learning self-directed which can be developed through the regular practices. By working with the small group with the collaborative approach has improved patient care, job satisfaction, reduce the medication errors, improved the work place safety.

Further with help of reflective cycle I evaluated that I have to work on improving knowledge in the medications which important for patient care. By minimising the errors it can reduce the risk of the lives of patients. Collaborative practices foster the competencies of the team working and improved the effective communication of the quality of patient care (Hartshorne et al, 2020). For instance, when heath care provides the working in the team, the cases of the complication and stay with the patients in the hospital, rates of the morality has been reduced. The collaborative practices are command to the managing and addressing the patient’s health, psychological and physical demand. This can improve the condition of patient and provide the person- centred services. This is essential for being a nurse to develop the knowledge of the condition of the patient.

In addition to this it is necessary for me to effectively perform all the duties. This is particularly because of the reason that while working in collaboration with others the working of me affects others as well. This is particularly because of the reason that in case I will not be performing well and will not be following the ethical values then other people will also be influenced and they will also not follow the required things effectively (Tursunovich, 2023). Thus, it is very necessary for me as a collaborative worker that I comply with all the working patterns and my behaviour is also appropriate. Moreover when my behaviour and working actions will not be in line with professional values then it will create negative impact over other employees as well.

Exploring the different communication and preferred style

For working the most important aspect is communication. This is particularly because of the reason that communication assists the person in sharing the information with other people effectively and efficiently. Be it any kind of industry whether hospitality, banking, retail, medical or any other kind of industry the communication is required (Admiraal et al, 2021). Communication is the prime requirement for doing any of the tasks. Within the Health Care industry, professional communication is required to a great extent. This is particularly because of the reason that when communication will not be appropriate and good then it will be affecting the overall working of the companies (5 Types of Communication Styles in the Workplace, 2024). There are different kinds of communication styles which can be used by the worker in order to a complete that asked. The different kind of communication styles include the following-

• The first style of communication includes the aggressive communication style within which the person attempts to dominate the discussion. By speaking louder than other participants the person tries to communicate in a group (Shulla et al, 2021). Within this communication style the eye contact is maintained and a proper personal space is provided while talking to others.
• The next communication style includes the passive communication style which is particularly focused to avoid conflict. The conflict is avoided by using the easy going and humble language so that the people are not of fended by the tone or the words used to communicate.
• Along with this another communication style is the manipulative communication style. This is a kind of tactic within which people focuses on manipulation and misguides the person (Stambulova, Ryba and Henriksen, 2021). Within this style of communication the major focus is on influencing others for acting and some another way by hiding the true intentions. Here the actual communication is not complete and problems are being created within the workspace.

Out of all the different communication styles the most preferred style by me is the passive communication style. This is preferred while working as a collaborative worker because within the Health Care industry the interaction with people is more. Thus, it is very necessary for me to have a humble and passive communication style so that other people are comfortable working with me (Chen, 2020). Moreover, for good and easy recovery it is necessary for the patient to have a good working environment and passive communication will assist me in having communication with the patient.

Self-awareness and evidence of reflective learning

Self awareness is defined as the capability of the person through which they understand and perceive the different kind of things which are taking place. The self awareness includes the personal capability of the person through which they can learn the different aspects and being aware of the different changes taking place. It includes developing the personality, values, believes, actions, emotion, thinking capability of the person and other related aspects (Iis et al, 2022). For the person to be successful it is very necessary that they must be self aware. Within the external environment there are much different kind of changes taking place and it is the responsibility of the person that they are aware of these changes. Also the competition within the external environment is very intense and it is necessary for the people to be self aware. When they will be self aware then they will be in a position to analyse all the changes taking place and try to adapt to the latest changes so that overall working can be improved. Within the health care sector it is very necessary for the nurses and collaborative workers that they are self aware (Sims and Fletcher-Wood, 2021). The self awareness is very necessary for them because they need to take spontaneous action in case of emergency and in case there will not be proper knowledge then actions will not be taken appropriately.

Thus, with the help of the self reflection based on the GIBBS reflective cycle it is evident that there is requirement of improving the listening and speaking skills. In addition to this there is requirement of learning the different kind of practices like advance care of wound, attending workshops relating to the latest changes taking place within the Healthcare working (Akrivou, Scalzo and Orón, 2020). Moreover, it is also necessary for me to develop the knowledge relating to the safety of the patience and effective time management skills. With the further critical analysis of self it was evaluated that there is also more requirement of developing some understanding relating to the professional practices and the medical safety. With the learning of all these skills I will be working with more efficiency and as a result of this working in the health care industry will enhance. Moreover the Gibbs reflective cycles assisted in evaluating the fact that there is a need of preparing the action plan for developing all the necessary requirements and try to improve the overall personality of the person (Imants and Van der Wal, 2020). Also it assisted in analysing the fact that when the listening skill will be developed then it will be assisting in improving the overall working efficiency and as a result of this the professional development takes place easily.

CONCLUSION

In the end, it is concluded that developing as a professional is very necessary. The reason underlying the fact is that the person and professional development assist in improving the working capability and this in turn assists in enhancing the overall working efficiency. There are lot many changes which frequently takes place in the external environment and it can affect the working capability of the person. Thus, it is very necessary for the person that they try to be adaptable so that every change can be easily adapted by the person. The above study highlighted that self evaluation is very necessary and complying with the professional values is also crucial. While working in healthcare setting it is necessary that professional values are followed as it will be assisting in better developing the personality and learn all the new professional values easily and effectively. The study outlined that the preferred communication style is the passive communication style and it is helpful in building good relation with patients. In the end, it was evaluated that the action plan is prepared for developing the lacking skills which were highlighted in the self-reflection. Developing the action plan is very important and helpful for the person in professionally developing and it assist in analysing the changes which need to be adapted for working efficiently.

As a nurse, I have to work on different aspects which can improve the future position and help me in improving my skills by SMART goals.
